Division I: Springboro and Mason Meet Again, and Three Boys Have Broken 15:00

Everything you need for Saturday's Division I races at Fortress Obetz: the favorites, the chasers and the team math.

Division I opens the day at Fortress Obetz, girls at 10:00 AM and boys at 10:40 AM. It is the only division that came through three regionals instead of four, Boardman, Troy and Pickerington, with 20 teams in each race.

The Southwest Regional at Troy is the story on both sides. Troy sent seven of the 20 boys teams, and the four boys teams that project highest all ran there. On the girls side, Troy's individual title came down to three-tenths of a second.

Every time below is a real 2026 result. When a team "projects" somewhere, that is the actual 20-team state field scored with each runner's Oct. 31 regional time. Three different courses, not course-adjusted, so it is Projected · not official.

What to watch Saturday

  • The sub-15:00 club. Little Miami's Ian Patrick (14:54.4) and Ryne Reynolds (14:57.7) and New Albany's Austin Benedict (14:59.8) are the only three in the field who have broken 15:00 this fall.
  • Springboro vs. Mason, round two. Springboro won Troy 72-83 and projects 1st on regional times, 92 to 105. Score it on season bests and Mason flips it.
  • Mentor, the sleeper. Mentor sits 11th on regional times but projects 3rd on season bests.
  • Three-tenths of a second. That was the gap between Milford's Elle Campbell and Mason's Atalia Hawkins at Troy. Hilliard Davidson's Mackenzie Kline ran the fastest girls time of the round, 17:55.8.
  • Upper Arlington vs. Milford. Upper Arlington projects 1st at 110 and Milford 2nd at 128. Milford's 2-5 runners finished within 8.4 seconds of each other.
  • Schultz on the clock. Perrysburg's Lexi Schultz has the fastest season best in the girls field, 17:36.1.

Team projections are Projected · not official.

Boys Individual Race: Three Who Have Broken 15:00

Little Miami's pair. Little Miami senior Ryne Reynolds won Troy in 15:02.3, the fastest Division I time of the regional round, and junior teammate Ian Patrick was 2nd in 15:12.4. Patrick owns the fastest season best in the field, 14:54.4, and Reynolds has run 14:57.7.

Benedict makes three. New Albany junior Austin Benedict won Pickerington in 15:10.2 and has a 14:59.8 season best. Nobody else in the Division I field has broken 15:00 this fall. Hilliard Darby's Logan Behm (15:14.7) and Thomas Worthington sophomore Calvin Watson (15:15.7) were right behind him.

Troy's depth. After the Little Miami pair, Troy produced five more of the field's top 12: Springboro senior Nicholas Beatty (15:20.4), Milford senior Henry Newman (15:24.7), Mason junior Logan Mix (15:25.6), St. Xavier senior Liam Holman (15:33.2) and Beavercreek senior Nick Szymanski (15:36.3).

Nine of the top 12 are seniors. For a lot of them, Saturday is the last cross country race they will run in high school.

Girls Team Race: Upper Arlington vs. Milford

Upper Arlington's one-two. Upper Arlington won Pickerington with 86 behind Cox (2nd) and Baker (4th), with sophomore Marin Ackerman 16th (18:58.8), junior Claire Ammons 28th (19:21.5) and junior Sonja Wooddell 36th (19:29.0).
